Turan-do can be
interpreted to have the
following two meanings:
“Turan” – ancient name of Turks’
country; “Do” – way
“Turan” – rebirth, revival; “Do”
– “Tao” – (Mountain) Peak
Turan-do is a martial art of
Turkich nations. Turkish
alphabet, literature and culture
are deeply rooted in the ancient
Schumer civilisation. This type
of martial art combines elements
of movements of the tiger,
eagle, panther as well as other
elements of close fight.
It is known from ancient Turkich
manuscripts that boys from
Turkich families studied the
martial arts beginning from as
early as 2 or 3 years old. One
of the distinguishing properties
of Turan-do from other martial
arts is the fact that basic
elements can be applied in
actual fight whereas in other
martial arts, this is difficult.
Movements and kicks are rapid,
almost thunder-like, and offence
mode alternates with defence
mode and vice versa. Kicks with
elbows, knees, leg, fist and
palms are applied in fights.
Using palms is given preference
in the defence mode with the
subsequent seizure or
undercutting, which leads to
disbalancing the opponent.
Various kinds of weapons can
also be used in Turan-do, for
example, long stick, whipping,
nunchaki, knife, sword, etc.
Healthy breathing exercises
improve physiological processes
and biomechanical qualities of
the body.
Since Turan-do is based on
natural movements, it is a very
effective type of martial art
that almost anyone can learn
within a short period of time.
